Sounds of Peace
11.11am, 11 November, Brander Building, Huntly
Artist in residence Caroline Wendling has been, during her stay in Huntly, asking Huntly community members: 'what is the sound of peace?'
Caroline has been collecting these sounds and will play a selection of them at the Brander Library on 11/11/14 at 11.11. They will also be played in the entrance hall of the Brander Building and on Deveron Arts Website.
During the day from 10.30 am to 2pm, Caroline will be in the Brander Library, collecting and writing down more responses to the question, 'What is the sound of peace?'
For this she will be making a very special kind of ink with oak Galls. It was used to write manuscripts for the last 1500 years. Pliny the Elder wrote one of the first recipes for it. It is known for its qualities of permanence and water resistance. Caroline collected the oak galls from an ancient wood near Cambridge, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
