Jonathan Claxton is an Aberdeen-based land artist. He came to Huntly in 2001, creating work exploring the relationship between nature and language and the horizon as the separating line between sky and earth, the human realm and ideals.
In Horizons, a recurring sky blue, pink and cream motif covers various walls of Gordon Primary Schools playgrounds. The pink line echoes the horizon of the distant hills beyond the playing fields. It is at once a subtle work for the visitor whilst being a visual memory of the playground for all pupils and staff of the school.
