Linden Centre, Castle StVarious cook books
Aberdeenshire-based artist Merlyn Riggs revives traditional domestic activities, examining caring, hospitality and home-life. Using food as a shared experience, Riggs produces encounters and social situations based on an exploration of the responsibilities and stereotypes of given roles, such as the woman's role in family life. These typically manifest as events, lunches and coffee mornings.
As part of her project Fit'll I mak fur supper the nicht? Merlyn organized a bartering event to which visitors were invited to bring and swap their cookbooks - a low key strategy for broadening the domestic cooking habits of the town.
